I have been asked by NPT Safeguarding Officer Anneliese Donovan to remind parents to ensure that children are using Age Appropriate Apps at home. Apps are given an age for good reason.
The content is not suitable for younger children.
The most recent message from Anneliese regards Tik Tok App specifically:
Good Morning,
The following information has been shared with the LA, in regards to a new Tik Toc craze;
Police have highlighted an emerging Tik Tok craze whereby a child runs full tilt towards another child from behind and (unbeknown to victim) slides just before contact wiping them out and up into the air.
There has been a recent incident in Cardiff (13-year-old boy on 13-year-old boy) has resulted in the victim suffering a bleed on the brain and a broken shoulder.
Please send books of an excellent quality into school by Thursday 23rd January.
Missio Council will collect them. If everyone sends at least one book into school, every child will have the opportunity to choose a new book on Friday 24th, to take home and read. Age range 4-8 years.
Laudato Si- Care for our common home. God’s gift to us.
Missio Pupil Council are working on projects in school to Reduce, Recycle, Reuse.
AS part of our work with our local community, Year 2 pupils welcomed a visit from Mid and West Fire Brigade. We discussed how we can keep ourselves safe at home and in school.
Prevention Saves Lives:
We also found our that we can all have free smoke alarms for our homes. Please contact the number below for more information.
Children (Abolition of Defence of Reasonable Punishment) (Wales) Act 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
I thought it would be useful to outline the implications of a change in the law.
This change means all physical punishment of children will be illegal in Wales, including by parents, carers and anyone acting in loco parentis in any setting in Wales.
What has changed?
The Act came into force on 21 March 2022. It abolishes a defence of “reasonable punishment” in the existing criminal offences of assault and battery against a child.
What does this mean for families?
Physical punishment includes smacking, hitting, slapping, shaking or otherwise punishing a child using physical force.
For schools
It has been illegal in schools, children’s homes, local authority foster care homes and childcare settings for some time.
The change means all physical punishment of children will be illegal in Wales, including by parents, carers and anyone acting in loco parentis in any setting in Wales.
Thanks to those friends of St Joseph’s Infants who were able to make our catch up and coffee meeting this morning. During our catch up we discussed the following:

Dr Nasha’s mobile medical clinic gets life-saving help to where it’s needed most, fast – so when her team arrived in Meera’s village after it had been destroyed by flooding, she rushed to the clinic to get her children the treatment they needed.
Thank you for all your support!
Join us in praying this Harvest as we celebrate God’s gifts and seek to respond with gratitude and generosity.
Harvest prayer 2023: Seeds of hope
Generous God, we thank you for the gifts you have given for all people to share. We plant seeds of hope and nurture them as we seek a harvest of plenty for all.
Forgive us for the times these seeds fail to take root in our hearts. We grieve when homes and crops are washed away by floods, when lives are uprooted by disaster, or trampled by fear and greed.
Living God, you lead us to a new way of being. Move us to help one another in our times of need, to care for the earth and to love one another, sharing your harvest with all.
Have you any clean, good quality coats that you would like to recycle?
Answering Pope Francis’ call
Less is more… it is a way of living life to the full.
Please bring cleaned, coats week beginning Monday 25th September. Coats are to be taken free of charge. I would be grateful for help manning the Recycle Rail. Many thanks, Ms Beaumont
