Care for our common home – Nadolig Llawen Merry Christmas

Pope Francis-Care for our common home: Help save our environment this Christmas

Missio St Joseph’s have been thinking about caring for creation, which is as old as Genesis, as clear as the Sermon on the Mount.

Climate change is the greatest threat to life our Earth has ever seen. We have cut down the earth’s natural forests.

We have decided to be more eco- friendly this year by sending just one Christmas wish to friends and staff in school.

Please fill in the Star above with your Christmas prayer and messages, cut out, and return to School, with a donation. Missio St Joseph’s will display the in the Hall.

Many thanks,

Missio Saint Joseph’s: Edie, Ava May, Alicia, Jude, Mia, Emilia and Ava

Advent is here!

Dear Parents/Carers,

As we move into the season of Advent, we remember the four candles on the Advent wreath. Please take a moment to talk about the first candle, the first Sunday of Advent when we focus on Hope. This seems very fitting in these challenging times. Mark’s Gospel reminds us, ‘Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time will come.’

As a whole school community we have revisited our school values. We want our children to be loving and to love God and the wider world.

The Birth of Jesus Please help your child make links in their learning and become faith filled. How? Take some time to read the nativity story with your child. Start with Mary’s good news and read the journey and the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. Find time to pray.  For traditional prayers, focus on one prayer at a time. Start with the sign of the cross, then the Hail Mary, Our Father and Glory Be. Prayers from the heart. At bedtime and first thing in the morning try to find some space to talk to Jesus with your child. In Advent, maybe think about a prayer of thanks, of love, of joy of peace.

Improving our learning environment to provide the very best learning opportunities

In line with the school’s vision for Curriculum for Wales:

Our School Vision

We are a Welsh Catholic school with a strong sense of community that caters for children from the age of 3 to 7. Our school vision is encapsulated in our school motto ‘We can do our best and God will do the rest!’  and in Article 29 – ‘Your right to be the best you can be.’ Our Catholic vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They guide our children and underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our children as confident happy citizens of Wales and of the wider world.  We provide a Christian Community where the Catholic Faith is taught and nurtured, giving learners the best possible learning experiences and outcomes. We are extremely proud of all that goes on here.

The teachers, Governors and children have been working to deliver the very best learning environment in which to embed our new curriculum. During the Summer holidays a number of building projects have gone on.

OUTSIDE LEARNING PROVISION- Learning Hwb

Neath Port Talbot CBC have funded the building of an outside classroom, which the children have named ‘the bandstand’.

OUTSIDE CLASSROOM

A covered area has also been built to allow learning activities to take place adjacent to the ramp accessing Reception and Year 1 classrooms.
