Welcome everyone!

We want to share the Good News!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am happy to confirm that school will be running First Holy Communion preparation classes on behalf of the parishes of St Joseph’s and Our Lady Margam. Monsignor Joseph and Father Andrzej will announce the start of the programme through in Mass this weekend. We are all very hopeful that our year 2 children will make their First Holy Communion in July 2021.
In light of COVID-19 Operational Guidance, we will be keeping the Year 2 children in their bubble for lessons in school that will start next Wednesday 28th April 2021. Classes will run on a Wednesday (initially 2:45-3:30). Mrs Hines, Mrs James will be supported by Miss Wellington, Mrs O’Callaghan and I. School will buy the preparation workbook ‘Called to his Supper’ once we have had your responses.
Should you wish your child to take part in the First Holy Communion Programme then please complete the consent form below. If your child has not been Baptised and you would like your child to be part of this preparation programme, may I suggest that you ring Monsignor Joseph for St Joseph’s Parish (including Cwmafan) or Father Andrzej for Margam Parish to discuss the next step.
I am delighted that there is a real possibility of our children receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion this year!!!
Ms. J. Beaumont
Headteacher
During October we celebrate the Harvest, usually with a special Harvest Mass. This year we celebrated with a difference.
Children dressed in bright colours, Ms Beaumont led collective worship assemblies in class bubbles during which we talked about One World – One Family and how we can make a difference.
We also discussed Fairtrade and fair treatment for farmers who produce our food.
Family Challenge: children have been asked to look out for FAIRTRADE products when shopping. Please help us to support FAIRTRADE.
In every class we will be thinking about praying for peace and the end of COVID-19. Please fill in your special intentions on the template that will come home on Friday.
Last Sunday Pope Francis invited children to participate together in a very special initiative. A Catholic charity hopes to bring together a million children worldwide to pray the rosary this Sunday.
Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) is seeking to unite the children in praying for peace and the end of the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more than a million people around the world.
Please could you take some time with your child the prayers that make up the Rosary. It has been a long Summer so maybe start with the first part of the Hail Mary.
Once you have got to grips with the Hail Mary, be resilient and move on to The Our Father.
A huge thank you to our Religious Education Link Governor, Canon Paul who has played a vital part in working with the children and staff of Saint Joseph’s Infant School. He has been a fantastic support and a visible presence in our lives. We wish him much love and all our prayers as he takes up a new appointment as Parish Priest of St David’s Swansea. Thank you Canon Paul. We will miss you!
