Free School Meal Emergency Payments

1 April 2020

Free School Meals Emergency

Payments

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to you regarding the provision of free school meals during these unprecedented times. Currently meals are being provided through our Grab and Go system which is unlikely to be sustainable going forward.

Neath Port County Borough Council has decided to issue bank transfer payments to parents of those pupils entitled to free school meals. The amount payable will be £19.50 per week for each eligible pupil, this does not include nursery pupils. The payment will be paid direct into your bank account. Please note that the Authority is unable to make payments into post office or credit union accounts.

In order to receive payment, you will have to register at www.npt.gov.uk/fsmpayments providing your bank account details (bank account number, sort code and account name) and your child / children’s legal name and date of birth. Please note payment cannot be made to a third party. Payments will be issued every Monday until further notice.

This method of payment will continue for the foreseeable future and will include payment over the Easter period.

  • If the required information is returned promptly by Wednesday 8th April; payments will then commence on Tuesday 14th April and weekly thereafter every Monday from 20th April 2020.
  • If you are unable to submit by the 8th April, submission of information must be made by the following Wednesday in order to action payment on the following Monday.
  • If you are unable to register online you can do so by contacting 01639 686868 and the contact centre staff will register your details for you.

We emphasise strongly the need to provide your details as quickly as possible in order that we may release your payment.

Payment will be backdated to 6th April and the distribution of Grab and Go bags will cease on Friday, 3rd April.

Should you have any queries please email fsm@npt.gov.uk

At home Liturgy – Ten Ten

Follow the link below for some wonderful prayers and liturgy that can be used at home.

W.C 5.04.20

https://www.tentenresources.co.uk/sunday-liturgy-for-families/

W.C 30.03.20

The message of this week’s Gospel is that like Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, we too can be raised to new life through belief in God.

The prayers create space for children to reflect on their ‘new normal’ – albeit a temporary one – and understand that as Christians, we can always know a new normal because we are always offered forgiveness and a fresh start when we ask.

A Letter from Ms Beaumont

Dear Parents,
Today I am feeling quite tearful as we end school for a lot of our children for the immediate future. We will miss them! I hope we will be able to gather again in the Summer Term to get back to teaching and learning and to celebrate the leaving of Year 2 Class of 2020.

May I send a huge vote of thanks to all my staff, each and everyone have gone above and beyond, and will continue to do so in the coming weeks as we care for the children of Key Workers.

Also my thanks to you Parents and Carers for your continued support and understanding in working with us to get through this very difficult time, definitely Stronger Together.

As new information reaches me I will share it with you as soon as possible. The St Joseph’s Team  send their love and prayers. We look forward to getting back to our normal regime. In the meantime Teachers will add suggestions through the Seesaw App.

Keep us in your prayers as we keep you in ours,

Best wishes,

Ms Julie Beaumont

SCHOOL CLOSURE GUIDANCE

Foodbanks and local area coordinators

Friday March 20th, 15:00 p.m

Please read the NEW and UPDATED letter from the local authority and Aled Evans, director of education.

Dear Parent / Carer,

There has been significant discussion over the last 24 hours over the way schools will open from Monday onwards.

Could I firstly emphasise that the purpose of closing schools is to restrict and minimise social contact and therefore reduce the risk of being infected by the coronavirus.

Therefore, if it is at all possible, please keep your children at home. Parents should not rely for childcare upon those who are advised to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions.

We will ensure that schools will provide caring facilities for parents who are at the forefront of the national effort to fight the coronavirus disease. We want to ensure that these vital workers are given every opportunity to be in work and to get on with their efforts to protect our lives and wellbeing.

In accordance with the above, we will limit attendance at our schools next week to those who are employed within:

  • Health and social care sectors.
  • To education and childcare staff, including social workers.
  • Key public services, ie those responsible for the management of the deceased.

Local and national government

  • This only includes those administrative occupations essential to the effective delivery of the COVID-19 response, or delivering essential public services, such as the payment of benefits.

Food and other necessary goods

  • This includes those involved in food production, processing, distribution, sale and delivery.

Public safety and national security

  • This includes police and support staff, fire and rescue service employees (including support staff) and prison and probation staff.

Transport

  • This includes those who will keep the road and rail passenger and freight transport modes operating during the COVID-19 response, including those working on transport systems through which supply chains pass.

However, let’s be very clear, we want to prioritise attendance at school to only those who absolutely need to be there and are eligible to be there according to this criteria. If you fall outside this criteria, schools will not be expected to receive your children. Please be considerate and understanding in these very challenging times.

Our schools will also be open to our most vulnerable learners who will be identified in discussion with headteachers and Social Services and your school will contact you personally on this.

We are confident that if this advice is followed, we will all make a significant contribution towards protecting our pupils and our staff.

We will review these arrangements very carefully with our schools on a daily basis and will keep you appraised of any changes through the usual communication and media channels.

Yours sincerely,

Aled Evans
