Menter Iaith and Criw Cymraeg

Our Criw Cymraeg met with Leanne from Menter Iaith today who taught them some ‘Gemau Buarth (playground games). The Criw are now ready to teach the our pupils some new games in Welsh to enjoy during playtimes. Leanne was thrilled with the engagement of the children and couldn’t believe their enthusiasm and confidence! Da iawn Criw!

Delicious Home Made Flat Bread

At Nursery our RE topic is Galilee to Jerusalem. During this topic we listened to stories of Jesus’ love for us. One of the stories was the Feeding of the Five Thousand portrayed through a book called The Boy Who Shared His Sandwich. Following the story we made flat bread. Making the flat bread became a cross curriculum activity with ‘Change’ our current school concept. We discussed how the dough changed into edible tasty bread after we applied heat.

Coastguard Visit

Our concept this term is BRAVERY. We were very lucky to receive a visit from our lovely, local Coastguards who gave us a talk all about their role.

They explained that the Coastguard service is made up of volunteers, who after many months of training, can become part of the service.

The children asked lots of wonderful questions such as,

“What has been your most dangerous rescue?”

“What has been your most dangerous animal rescue?”

The Coastguards explained how they not only rescue people who are in difficulty, but also animals.

Every child in the school was given a booklet about how to stay safe on the coast and of course – a sticker!

We are so grateful to the coastguard service for not only giving up their time to visit us in school, but for all that they do to keep us safe.

Diolch yn fawr!
